Kingdom Living

Every Kingdom is ruled by a King.  We have a good and loving King who rules over us.  We are his warrior hearted men and women and we live in and we live out the Kingdom of Heaven right here, right now on this earth.  We were created to reign and to rule and God is called us to live out of our true identity and authority and has restored us to rule and reign.

We learn about the authority given to mankind in Genesis 1:26-28

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

We are made in the image of God and as image bearers we represent Him here on earth and we also rule on His behalf.   Mankind lost our authority when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God in the Garden of Eden. Then in time Jesus came to earth and took the form of man and through His death and resurrection He defeated the enemy and took back the authority Satan stole from Adam and Eve.  Colossians 2 in The Message reminds us:

“When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive—right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s cross. He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.”

Our Authority Restored

Jesus then gave His authority to us and commissioned us to operate in authority and power to enforce the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. So the Kingdom of God has invaded our earthly kingdom and now the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is in us; we are to bring the Kingdom of Heaven with us wherever we go.  We reveal the Kingdom to everyone around us by how we live and move.

Kingdom Mindset

Kingdom Living requires us to have a Kingdom Mindset. When we speak of a mindset it is a mind that is set on thinking and believing a specific way. A mind set on the things of Jesus.   Thinking the same way Jesus thinks about things.

Jesus talked many times in the Gospels about the Kingdom.  If you look at the pattern of Jesus He would declare or teach about the Kingdom and then He would demonstrate it.  He was teaching His disciples (and us) to reframe their old way of thinking. He was telling them and us and to align our new way and thinking and believing with the Kingdom of Heaven.  What is not allowed in heaven is not allowed on earth, this is the Kingdom of Heaven mindset and is living as more than conquerors.
